J.D. Drew collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI at the ballpark as the
Columbus Crowd beat the Dominican Republicans 11 to 7.
Columbus set the tone of the game in the first inning with 3 runs using 3
hits. After an out was recorded, Johnny Estrada started the rally when he
delivered a one-base hit. Hank Blalock came to the plate and doubled. Lyle
Overbay then drew a walk to load the bases. Drew came up and he doubled
scoring two teammates. Brad Wilkerson stepped into the box and drew a walk
to load the bases. Jason Varitek kept things alive and would ground out
scoring the final run of the inning. Dominican was out-hit by Columbus, 16
hits to 8.
The win went to Odalis Perez(2-1) who allowed 6 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings.
Jeremy Bonderman(0-5) was given the loss. 'It felt really nice to get this
win,' Perez said. 'I kind of dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do.
It worked out this time.'
